Compulsory health insurance in the canton of Glarus

The Gemeinsame Einrichtung KVG is in charge of the complete examination of the insurance obligation of the inhabitants and border workers in the canton of Glarus. We decide on requests of exemption from compulsory health insurance.

Whoever works or lives in the canton of Glarus is subject of compulsory health insurance (KVG). In specific cases it is possible to be exempt from compulsory health insurance. Detailed information concerning the exemption form compulsory health insurance can be found under compulsory insurance.

Border workers in the canton of Glarus have to take out compulsory health insurance (KVG) within three months from taking up economic activity or they have to request exemption from compulsory health insurance at the Gemeinsame Einrichtung KVG (option right).
